Dental Crowns Abroad

A cap that covers a damaged or root-canal-treated tooth.

What it is

A crown covers the whole visible part of a tooth. It is used for teeth that are cracked, heavily filled, or treated with a root canal. Common materials are zirconia, porcelain fused to metal, and lithium disilicate.

How many trips to expect

Many clinics can make crowns in a few days with an in-house lab or same-day milling. Teeth that need root canals first can take longer.

Ask before you book

  • Who will do the treatment, and what is their license number?
  • What exactly is included in the price, and what could be added later?
  • What happens, and who pays, if something needs to be redone?
  • How will my dentist at home get the records, X-rays and material details?
  • Why does each tooth need a crown rather than a filling?
  • What material will be used, and is the lab in-house?

The quote should list

  • Each tooth and the material
  • Root canals or build-ups, if any
  • Temporaries
  • Follow-up

This is general information, not dental advice. A dentist who examines you is the only one who can say what treatment you need.
